Introduction

Chemical Engineering is a Bachelor program taught at Carnegie Mellon University, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

The Chemical Engineering program at Carnegie Mellon University trains students in principles of chemical engineering science and process systems engineering. Coursework covers fundamentals such as thermodynamics, transport, and reaction, with an integrated focus rooted in chemistry, mathematics, physics, and biology. Computing is integrated throughout the curriculum to help students solve complex problems drawn from chemical engineering practice.

The curriculum uses software for mathematical modeling and simulation in the department’s Computational Laboratory. Students also have the opportunity to work in the Rothfus Laboratory, conducting experiments with applications in environment, product and process development and safety. The experiments use computerized data, control, and project management, alongside electives that support internship, research, and international experience.

After graduation, the program prepares students for diverse environments. Recent outcomes reported include employment or graduate study, and employers listed include Merck, Westinghouse Electric Company, Absolics, and Harvard Medical School.
