Introduction

Materials Science & Engineering is a Bachelor program taught at Carnegie Mellon University, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

The Materials Science & Engineering Bachelor of Science builds a foundation in the knowledge and skills of materials science and engineering. Students study the behavior of metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites, and how processing, structure, and properties connect. The program combines this focus with a broad-based education that supports a thoughtful, problem-solving approach.

Learning is supported through faculty research programs, and students are encouraged to participate in the current research programs of the faculty. The program culminates in a Capstone Project, where students work in teams with industrial partners to solve real-world problems. After graduation, graduates can work at companies, universities, or national laboratories in areas such as microelectronics, energy production and storage, biomedical applications, aerospace, information technology, nanotechnology, manufacturing, and materials production.
