Introduction

Mechanical Engineering is a Bachelor program taught at Carnegie Mellon University, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University focuses on creating and integrating the physical connections used to interact with the world. Students learn to analyze situations and solve practical problems by converting concepts into reliable, cost-effective devices and processes. The curriculum includes machine learning and data science tools to inform engineering solutions.

The program uses a hands-on approach with prototyping and fabricating solutions for real-world challenges and multidisciplinary projects. Students also work on projects such as low-cost sensors for monitoring air pollution, energy-dense batteries for electric flight, and optimized 3D printing of metal components. Students report access to facilities such as a MakerSpace for projects.
