Interdisciplinary Studies
Introduction
Interdisciplinary Studies is a Bachelor program taught at Coker College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Interdisciplinary Studies bachelor’s degree at Coker University helps students create customized fields of study by working across disciplines. Courses draw connections between sociology, psychology, business, history, the sciences, and the arts to discuss approaches to solve problems that matter across many areas. Students also build skills such as identifying ideas and challenges, communicating, and analyzing written and visual texts, including graphs and films.
Classes combine lectures, conversations, and hands-on projects. Writing assignments include short essays, reflections, and blog pages, and the work is process-oriented with no timed exams. Most classes include an experiential component, such as an internship or a travel/observation experience, so students apply and experience concepts from class. The major is individualized and flexible, supported by close access to an advisor.
