Students study common mechanical, electrical, and electronic components such as compressors, switches, thermostats, motors, and fans. The certificate includes hands-on instruction in Collin College facilities, with practice using heat pumps, heating units, air conditioning units, and refrigeration units. The program has a total of 31 credit hours.

Students who need a criminal background check may have placement in a required clinical site, cooperative, practicum, internship, and/or licensure or certification opportunity impacted.
