Mental Health Wellness Certificate

The Mental Health and Wellness Certificate at the Community College of Rhode Island is in the Human Services department. It introduces the Human Services profession with a focus on mental health and wellness for diverse and global populations. Students learn and refine skills in communication, observation, documentation, research, ethical practices, and self-care, and they are introduced to multi-disciplinary resources and support.

Students complete coursework that includes Introduction to Helping and Human Services, Drugs and Human Behavior, Assessment Interviewing for Treatment Planning, and Mental Health and Wellness. The program also includes Practicum I: Service Learning, described as a work-based learning course. Students choose one of the therapeutic or assessment options, and completion leads to Mental Health First Aid Certification. The certificate can be completed at the Knight (Warwick) Campus or the Liston (Providence) Campus.

The minimum requirements for admission in Mental Health Wellness Certificate at Community College of Rhode Island for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Community College of Rhode Island as pre-requiste for admission in Mental Health Wellness Certificate.
