Introduction

Geography is a program taught at Cosumnes River College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Geography program at Cosumnes River College studies the relationships among geographic places, natural systems, society, cultural activities, sustainability, and the interdependence of these over space. Students explore human geography and physical geography, and they study critical geographic issues including global warming, desertification, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, groundwater pollution, and flooding.

The Associate in Arts for Transfer in Geography includes a core of GEOG 300 Physical Geography: Exploring Earth's Environmental Systems, GEOG 301 Physical Geography Laboratory, and GEOG 310 Human Geography: Exploring Earth's Cultural Landscapes. Students complete additional requirements through Elective List A and Elective List B, with courses that include weather and climate, geographic technologies, environmental studies and sustainability, global climate change, and field studies.

This degree provides foundational knowledge for transfer to a 4-year Bachelor of Arts program. After completing the Associate Degree for Transfer requirements, students are guaranteed admission to the CSU system with junior status and do not have to repeat lower division coursework.
