Music
Introduction
Music is a program taught at Covenant College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Music program at Covenant College prepares students to be versatile musicians and scholars with a Christian understanding of music. Students explore the contextual and architectural development of music across human history while building individual skills through collaboration such as public concerts, recitals, clinics, festivals, tours, and collaborative concerts. A music major’s time culminates in a capstone recital or a research project completed under supervision of a faculty mentor.
Music majors select a concentration: Church Music, Creative Studies, General Music, Instrumental Performance, Organ Performance, Piano Pedagogy, Piano Performance, or Vocal Performance. The Worship Leadership Major includes music core and two main components: Musical Leadership and Theological, with courses such as Music Theory, Applied Music (voice, piano, guitar), History of Western Music, Orchestration, and Basic Conducting. Music majors take eight semesters of Performance Seminar, and all students join departmental ensembles.
