Culinary Arts

Culinary Arts is a program taught at Delaware Technical Community College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Culinary Arts associate degree program at Delaware Technical Community College provides basic skills for pursuing a career as a chef. Students study applied hospitality, food safety and sanitation, food preparation, garde manger, American regional cuisine, baking, beverage management, culinary supervisory development, international cuisine, pastry, food and beverage cost control, cake decorating, and practicum. The program also covers nutrition in the culinary field and the core curriculum competencies that support professional work.

Instruction combines classroom lecture with hands-on cooking in the demonstration kitchen. Students also prepare and serve lunch in the restaurant located on campus. Program requirements include completing a practicum (field experience) prior to graduation, and students must pass the listed courses and earn at least 60 credits.
