Math Secondary Education

Math Secondary Education is a program taught at Delaware Technical Community College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Mathematics Secondary Education Associate of Arts in Teaching program is designed for future high school mathematics educators. Students study advanced mathematical concepts, including algebraic, geometric, trigonometric, and calculus problems, and they learn to use formal arguments to prove or disprove mathematical statements. The program also includes learning to apply knowledge of the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of adolescents and to access and implement educational technology.

Learning includes preparation for hands-on field experiences in secondary school settings, where students can apply their knowledge in real-world teaching scenarios.

The course sequence includes First Year Seminar, Composition I and II, Reasoning with Functions, Calculus I, Statistical Reasoning, General Psychology, Human Development, Introduction to Exceptional Learners, General Physics I or Physics I with Calculus, and additional mathematics coursework such as Calculus II, Calculus III, Linear Algebra, and Problem Solving Strategies. Program completion requires passing the listed courses and earning at least 60 credits.
