Culinary Arts

Culinary Arts is a program taught at Eastern Maine Community College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Culinary Arts at Eastern Maine Community College provides a complete and versatile background in culinary arts. Students study Classical French, International, and American regional cuisines, pastry arts, table-side cookery, buffet catering, advanced garde manger production, and other culinary topics. Students apply this knowledge through hands-on experience in the culinary arts kitchen.

Training is delivered through practical kitchen work, including hands-on experience at The Rangeley Café, the training restaurant for Culinary Arts at EMCC. The program supports entry-level and mid-level responsibilities across basic professional cooking and baking, front of the house and supervisory responsibilities, menu planning and execution, food costing, purchasing, and distribution, and reservation and dining room execution.

Completion options include an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts and a one-year certificate program in Food Service Specialist. Career options listed for students completing the Culinary Arts Associate Degree Program include chefs, kitchen managers, catering directors, and restaurant managers, and students may also choose to transfer to four-year college programs.

The minimum requirements for admission in Culinary Arts at Eastern Maine Community College for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:

• program specific academic requirment set by Eastern Maine Community College.
• English Language OR any other language requirments as set by Eastern Maine Community College as pre-requiste for admission in Culinary Arts.
