The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity at Excelsior University is an online bachelor’s program aligned with academic requirements set by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. Students study cybersecurity topics and can choose a concentration: Cyber Operations or General.
The program is delivered as asynchronous online, and it is also offered as a hybrid option. In the hybrid format, required in-person class sessions are held at Excelsior’s site in St. Petersburg, Florida, in the evenings or on the weekends, with a three-hour in-person session every other week. Hybrid courses use cybersecurity tools and collaborative problem solving.
Students complete 120 credits total, including general education, major core, university requirements, electives, and concentration credits. The program includes courses such as Network and Application Security, Criminology, Security Focused Risk Management, Cyber Attacks and Defenses, and Large Scale Cybercrime and Terrorism. It is designed to prepare students for cybersecurity jobs in U.S. Cyber Command, NSA signal intelligence operations, law enforcement agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and corporate environments.
