Introduction

Nursing Practice, D.N.P. is a PhD program taught at Governors State University, USA. Intake: fall semester only. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (D.N.P.) in Nursing Practice prepares applicants to matriculate at two entry points: post baccalaureate or post master’s degree with a major in nursing. The program focuses on advanced professional practice specialties: Community Behavior, Direct Practice, Leadership/Administration, and Practitioner/Educator.

The sequence of courses develops leadership skills for meeting healthcare needs in a variety of settings, with an emphasis on care of vulnerable populations. The program includes required clinical contact hours: 1000 verifiable post-baccalaureate clinical hours for the award of the DNP degree, with up to 500 hours that may be applied for post-masters admission; any deficiency is addressed through Nursing 8701 with repeats.
