Introduction

4PLUS Computer Science Program is a program taught at Hood College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Hood College 4PLUS Computer Science Program is a combined bachelor’s and master’s pathway in computer science. It is open to all majors and is designed for students who want to build graduate career options into their undergraduate curriculum while earning a master’s degree in computer science. Students complete required foundation courses, core requirements, and elective coursework, including options for a concentration in data science or cybersecurity.

Students complete 33 credits beyond the foundation courses, including 15 credits of core requirements. Core courses include CS 520 Algorithm Analysis, CS 524 Principles of Software Engineering, CS 528 Artificial Intelligence, and CS 564 Operating Systems, plus one course from CS 561 Computer Architecture or CS 571 Programming Languages: Their Design and Compilation. Electives total 18 credits and may include a 6-credit thesis (CS 580), a 6-credit fieldwork project (CS 585), or a 6-credit software engineering project (CS 595).

To participate in the accelerated structure, students attend graduate-level courses during their undergraduate studies and must attend at least two academic semesters (fall and spring) as full-time students. Students accepted into the program may take graduate courses during their junior and senior years that can apply to foundation completion or program requirements for the M.S. in computer science, with up to 9 credits (excluding foundation courses) able to apply to both degrees.
