Introduction

Law & Criminal Justice (B.A.) is a Bachelor program taught at Hood College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

The Law & Criminal Justice (B.A.) major at Hood College has two areas of study with separate objectives and goals. The law component prepares students for law school and careers in the legal profession. The criminal justice component studies the links among law enforcement, the judicial process, and the correctional system. Both areas use an interdisciplinary approach connected to the liberal arts tradition.

Students take part in internship work as part of their preparation for career planning and graduate school opportunities. An internship is recommended for the law component and required for criminal justice.

Past internship sites include the American Civil Liberties Union, Children’s Defense Fund, Maryland State’s Attorney’s Office, the Public Defender’s Office, Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, State of Maryland Division for Parole and Probation, and private attorney offices.

Students also participate in a semester-long moot courtroom activity using a hypothetical Supreme Court case.
