Environmental Studies, B.A. is a Bachelor program taught at Humboldt State University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
Environmental Studies, B.A. is an interdisciplinary program focused on the relationships between human communities and both natural and constructed environments. Students learn how environmental challenges involve multiple perspectives and social contexts, recognize how power and privilege shape those challenges, and understand how different research methods lead to different ways of examining the environment. Coursework also explores ecological science while building understanding of human systems.
The program includes opportunities such as teaching classes through Humboldt’s eco-demonstration home and using the Campus Center for Appropriate Technology, including green building or homesteading. Students can also get involved with the Dendroecology Lab, where scientists research how climate change affects tree growth. Service learning, internships, and networking around sustainability and climate justice are described as available, alongside emphases that may include community organizing, ecology and conservation science, geospatial analysis, and media production.
