Forestry, B.S. is a Bachelor program taught at Humboldt State University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Bachelor of Science in Forestry helps you understand and manage forests for biodiversity, carbon sequestration, cultural values, water quality, fire resilience, and wood products. The degree is accredited by the Society of American Foresters (SAF). You choose a program concentration that leads to forestry work focused on fire management, forest hydrology, forest operations, forest restoration, forest soils, or tribal forestry.
Learning includes hands-on instruction with a field-intensive schedule. With the 780-acre Arcata Community Forest nearby, students average more than 7 hours per week of class time in the woods during the school year. The Wildland Fire Laboratory is described as among the most well-equipped fire research facilities of any university in the United States. Jacoby Creek Forest, 15 minutes from the University, supports field trips, capstone projects, and student research.
The program is designed for students who want a clear path to a career and life outdoors. A recent survey of graduates reported that essentially all of them found jobs in their chosen career. Concentration completion qualifies students as a forester for federal employment, with some pathways also supporting additional roles.
