Cannabis Studies, B.A. is a Bachelor program taught at Humboldt State University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Cannabis Studies, B.A. program explores the historical, geographical, cultural, economic, and political contexts of cannabis legalization. Students study cannabis policy reform in relation to social problems and develop skills in critical and analytic thinking, writing, communicating with diverse communities, and engaging with science and research. A program focus is social and environmental responsibility.
The curriculum draws across multiple disciplines. The program includes a Cannabis Studies Lab and offers program concentrations in Environmental Stewardship and Policy Stewardship. Students are connected to internships in the public sector (for example, regulatory, planning, and economic development bodies) and private sector industries that do not require touching plants directly, such as environmental certification and compliance consulting.
Students are prepared to apply applied skills to careers associated with community and environmental stewardship, and they can qualify to specialize in cannabis jobs in the public and private sectors. The program includes a policy that, per Cal State University policy, the major does not include touching cannabis or training or curriculum in cultivating, processing, or selling cannabis.
