Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies, B.A. is a Bachelor program taught at Humboldt State University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
Critical Race, Gender & Sexuality Studies (B.A.) brings together ethnic studies, women’s studies, and multicultural queer studies. Students study race, class, gender, sexuality, dis/ability, and nation as intersecting categories of identity, using an intersectional and comparative approach. The program focuses on local, national, and transnational topics, with attention to systems of inequality and strategies for empowerment and agency.
Study connects disciplines including arts, politics, economics, history, popular culture, and sociology. Students develop skills for enacting social change at the local and global scale through dialogue and active learning. Multiple internship options let students apply theory in practice and connect campus experience to broader community involvement. Students also participate in campus events and produce CouRaGeous Cuentos.
The program includes support for community-facing work, such as student involvement in the Campus Dialogue on Race and the Social Justice Summit, and organizing, performing, and presenting at Humboldt’s annual Hip Hop Conference. Graduates are prepared to enter fields such as politics and government, law, business, social services, activism, community organizing, and graduate school.
