The Doctor of Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at Kansas City University is a doctoral-level clinical psychology program based at the Kansas City campus. It provides broad and general training and emphasizes integration of empirical evidence and clinical practice through competency-based coursework and extensive clinical training experiences. Students build a foundation in the theoretical and scientific foundations of psychology and develop skills in evidence-based assessment, intervention, and outcome evaluation.

Training begins with foundations of psychological science and history and systems, with specific focus on psychological assessment skill acquisition, test construction, and test interpretation through the early stage of the program. Later coursework includes diversity-focused training and diagnostically focused practicum experiences. The program also includes courses such as psychopharmacology and consultation and integrated health care, plus a therapy practicum with clinical skills assessed through direct observation.

The advanced stage continues integrated academic coursework, an advanced practicum experience, and the dissertation process. The later stage is primarily dedicated to internship, while some students continue dissertation work during that time. The program prepares students for careers in health service psychology and for work as clinical psychologists both independently and as part of integrated health care teams.
