Introduction

Interdisciplinary Studies is a program taught at Lane College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Lane College’s Interdisciplinary Studies AA program prepares students for employment in entry-level positions and provides credentials for acceptance to BA degree programs. The program combines choices from two departments across division boundaries to earn an associate degree. Students complete a major in Interdisciplinary Studies requiring 61 credit hours, including general education courses and individualized, area-of-interest courses.

The major includes 34–39 credit hours of general education courses and 24–27 credit hours of individualized, area of interest courses. Each major course requires a grade of “C” or better. The individualized area of interest combines courses from two departments across division boundaries and is approved by the INT advisor. No more than 12 hours may be from the same discipline.

Lane also identifies itself as an approved Educator Preparation Provider (EPP), supporting teacher certification through application and approval as a teacher candidate, student teaching experience, and beyond. The program’s objectives include using multiple thinking strategies for real-world issues, integrating knowledge and personal abilities, understanding the importance and influence of diversity, and securing entry-level employment or applying for BA admission.
