Introduction

Mechanical Engineering is a Bachelor program taught at Lehigh University, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

The Mechanical Engineering undergraduate major at Lehigh University covers solid and fluid mechanics, engineering materials, product design and manufacturing, thermodynamics, and control systems. Students also complete a manufacturing course required of all juniors that uses advanced engineering tools and team work.

In the manufacturing course, teams of Lehigh students collaborate each year with local middle-school students to design, simulate, fabricate, and produce a manufactured product. Students use CAD software, rapid prototyping facilities, computer numerical control milling, and injection-molding machines. The course culminates in an annual expo where students compete and are judged on product design and effectiveness.

Graduates pursue work that involves designing, creating, and operating machinery. They also manage systems for energy conversion, material transport, and the control of motions and forces, with roles across industries such as aerospace, transportation, bioengineering, communications, electronics, computers, energy, environment, machinery, and manufacturing.
