Anthropology
Introduction
Anthropology is a program taught at Los Angeles Southwest College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Anthropology Associate in Arts (AA) and Associate in Arts for Transfer (AAT) at Los Angeles Southwest College cover human biological evolution, human ways of life through cultural anthropology, archaeology, language and communication, religion and belief systems, and topics such as peoples and cultures of Africa. You also study physical geography, introduction to Western civilization, sociology, government of the United States, general psychology, and American social problems through required courses and electives.
The programs total 60–61 units for the AA pathway and include required major units plus additional general education units for the AAT pathway. LASC provides internships, and you complete group and research projects as part of developing leadership, teamwork, objectivity, and research and observation skills. The AA supports careers in areas such as museums, human resources, social services, marketing, archaeological sites, or law.
The AAT option is designed for students planning to transfer to a CSU anthropology bachelor’s program. Completing the AAT degree provides guaranteed admission to a CSU upon completion of the program.
