Art
Introduction
Art is a program taught at Los Angeles Southwest College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Associate in Arts (AA) in Art prepares you to analyze works of art, study form and content, and build an art portfolio. You can develop skills to explain how visual works of art communicate within a cultural context, and you learn how composition, design, media, and iconography contribute to meaning. The program also supports practice with drawing, two- and three-dimensional design, and painting.
Learning is organized around required art courses, plus recommended electives. Studio-based work includes drawing, life drawing, painting, and design in two and three dimensions, along with courses such as Art Appreciation I and II and Color Theory. You can exhibit your own work and prepare an exhibition at the LASC college gallery. The program includes internships to build career connections, and it can support transfer to a four-year college or university.
