Interdisciplinary Studies

Interdisciplinary Studies is a program taught at Los Angeles Southwest College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Interdisciplinary Studies: Arts & Humanities (AA) at Los Angeles Southwest College is designed to help students explore art, music, literature, and theater. The program includes required communication and composition courses, plus theater coursework such as Introduction to Theater, along with art and music study through Survey of Art History and Fundamentals of Music.

Students follow a structured plan with 60 total units required. Coursework supports critical thinking, creative problem solving, time management, and communication. The program also connects students to real-world work through internships and participation in projects linked to the Theater Program, including writing, directing, staging, and producing, or contributing to the student literary journal The Truth.

The AA can be completed alongside an Associate in Arts for Transfer (AAT) in Interdisciplinary Studies: Arts & Humanities. The transfer degree is designed to provide the ability to identify art, music, and literature from pre-history to the early modern world, compare presentation styles across art, music, and theater, and includes requirements for CSU transfer, including guaranteed admission to a CSU upon completion of the program.
