Counseling Psychology (PhD)

The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Counseling Psychology prepares students to become Health Service Psychologists. The program follows a scientist-practitioner model and trains students in psychological theory, research methodology, clinical assessment, and therapeutic intervention. It is aligned with the American Psychological Association’s Standards of Accreditation for Health Service Psychology and related Accreditation Operating Procedures.

Training uses supervised practica in diverse clinical settings and includes clinical experience through the Psychological Services Clinic. The program uses a cohort model with at least four academic years of residence (including a minimum of three years), plus a one-year full-time pre-doctoral psychology internship and a total completion requirement within seven years of admission.
