Introduction

Environmental Design in Architecture is a Bachelor program taught at Marywood University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Marywood University offers a pre-professional Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture (BEDA). Students study how design affects physical, social, and ecological systems, combining aesthetics with sustainability. The curriculum includes architecture history and theory, architectural technology topics such as structures, environmental systems, renewable energy strategies, and passive design principles, and electives such as community design build, global urban ecologies, architectural detailing, lighting design, and materials and methods.

Instruction is organized around eight sequential design studios. Studios build in complexity and culminate in an integrative building design project. Students also complete hybrid representation courses that include hand drawing, model making, digital rendering, animation, and fabrication. The degree requires a semester abroad in Florence, Italy, and includes architectural technology coursework plus studio and fabrication work supported by facilities such as wood and metal shops and a digital fabrication lab.

On completion, students are eligible for advanced standing in Marywood’s Master of Architecture and Master of Interior Architecture programs.
