Introduction

Music Education is a Bachelor program taught at Marywood University, USA. Intake: Fall entrySpring entry. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

The Bachelor of Music in Music Education (BM) at Marywood University prepares you to develop teaching strategies and leadership capabilities for working with students of all ages. The program connects music theory and performance with teaching in public schools, with an outcome of Pennsylvania teacher certification in music K-12 (vocal, instrumental, and general).

Music education majors can begin observations in the public schools during their first semester. The program also includes student placements described as real-world teaching settings. Students can pursue professional memberships through the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and the Pennsylvania Music Education Association (PMEA), and the program highlights individualized attention and instruction from music faculty.

Training and practice are supported by performing arts facilities and dedicated music spaces, including the Sette LaVerghetta Center for Performing Arts with the Munley Theatre and Black Box Theatre, plus practice rooms, a digital piano lab, and a curriculum lab and learning center. Audition expectations include performing two contrasting works, sight-singing and sight-reading, and a short music theory test used for placement.
