Doctor of Pharmacy
Introduction
Doctor of Pharmacy is a program taught at Medical College of Wisconsin, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (3-year program) options.
The Doctor of Pharmacy at the Medical College of Wisconsin is a 3-year PharmD program designed to train pharmacists for expanded services, including point-of-care testing, medication therapy management, and immunization training. The curriculum prepares students to administer vaccines and provide patient care services, supported by extensive training on basic medical tests such as strep and sinus infections.
Students complete 2240 clinical practice hours across community pharmacies, academic and community hospitals, and ambulatory care settings. Clinical experience begins in the second quarter of the first year and continues weekly. Advanced clinical experiences in the third and final year take students out of the classroom for full-time immersion in practice settings.
The program includes academic medical center partnerships and interprofessional education. Students begin interprofessional education during the first session and engage in more than 200 hours of interprofessional collaborative experiences across a 3-year curriculum. Students may also pursue academic concentrations that align elective courses, clinical rotations, and a culminating project around a thematic area. Concentration areas listed include Research, Population Health, and Specialized Pharmacy Practice.
