Introduction

Education is a Bachelor program taught at Meredith College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

The Education programs at Meredith College prepare students for teaching and related licensure pathways. Students can pursue undergraduate NC licensure by completing a liberal arts major and, at the same time, completing a teacher education program in the Department of Education. Graduate options include the Master of Education, Master of Arts in Teaching, Post-Baccalaureate Licensure, and a Graduate Certificate with Licensure in K-12 Art, K-12 Theatre, or K-12 Dance.

Teaching-focused study includes internships and field experience supported by faculty and small class sizes. Early field experiences include tutoring, observing, classroom assistance, small group instruction, and informal assessment. Students also complete a full semester internship as a student teacher with one of the 20 public school partnerships in the area. Early M.A.T. options allow final-year Meredith students to take up to two specified graduate courses during their senior year.

These programs support students working toward roles such as elementary school teacher, middle school science teacher, high school biology teacher, and other NC licensure teaching positions. Graduate pathways connect to roles such as education specialist, academic coordinator, educational consultant, curriculum leader, corporate trainer, and principal, and to teaching roles including special education teacher and English as a second language teacher.
