Introduction

Family & Consumer Sciences is a Bachelor program taught at Meredith College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Family & Consumer Sciences at Meredith College is built around multidisciplinary studies in child development, fashion merchandising and design, food and nutrition, and interior design. Students develop knowledge and practice for professionals who help individuals and families manage challenges of living and working across the life span.

The major requires 37 hours, including 19 hours of core classes and 18 elective hours. All students complete a supervised internship. Students seeking licensure have internships with the Wake County Public School System, while students seeking a major without licensure complete internships with organizations that include North Carolina Cooperative Extension, Communities in Schools of Wake County, and the Center for Aging at Duke University Medical Center.

This degree prepares students for career fields such as education, business, industry, social agencies, and government. It also supports entry into a graduate program for further study. Students may also pursue licensure to teach grades 6–12 in North Carolina.
