Bachelor's in Social Work
Introduction
Social Work is a Bachelor program taught at Meredith College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Social Work MAJOR at Meredith College is a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program. The curriculum prepares students for professional social work practice and Master of Social Work (MSW) programs at the advanced standing level. Students gain a foundation of knowledge in liberal arts, supporting scholarship and principles of diversity, global citizenship, human rights, and social and economic justice.
Students participate in hands-on experiences through practicum in professional roles. During the spring semester of practicum, students enroll in and attend a weekly practicum seminar led by the faculty member who serves as the student’s faculty field liaison with the agency for their fieldwork. A minimum of 430 hours of beginning-level generalist social work practice experience is required during the last semester before graduation.
Practicum students receive supervision from practitioners who hold a professional degree in social work from a Council on Social Work Education-accredited program. After declaring social work as a major, students must be formally admitted into the program, and many graduates pursue an advanced-standing MSW degree.
