Introduction

Emergency Medical Technician is a program taught at Merritt College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.

Merritt College’s Emergency Medical Technician program trains you for EMT certification. You learn patient assessment, ventilation, circulation, and emergency care. The program is approved by the Alameda County Emergency Medical Services Agency and is led by instructors authorized by the state Fire Marshal.

The EMT program is offered as both on-campus and off-campus EMT Basic Training. It includes essential hands-on skills training, a final exam, and a written test with an 80% passing score required. Students also complete required documentation and course prerequisites before enrolling in EMT 211.

The EMT certification is described as essential for ambulance personnel, a prerequisite for paramedic training, and a requirement for some fire department entry exams. EMTs respond to 911 calls, assess patients, administer immediate medical treatment, and communicate vital information to hospital staff.
