Theatre Arts
Introduction
Theatre Arts is a program taught at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Associate of Fine Arts Theatre Arts Transfer Pathway helps students earn course credits that transfer to a Theatre Arts bachelor’s degree program at one of the seven universities in the Minnesota State system that offers the major. The curriculum is designed for transfer students planning initial study at a Minnesota State college. Students gain training in the basic skills for creative expression in both performance and the technical aspects of theater arts, with an emphasis available in acting, directing, or technical theater skills.
The program integrates artistic, technical, and academic disciplines of theater practice. Students also study global theater history and learn to interpret and understand contemporary and classical dramatic literature. Instruction is supported by faculty-directed productions, where students may act, direct, design, or view performances. Students can participate in three main stage productions each year and experience performances on proscenium, thrust stage, and black box stages.
