Introduction

ALCOHOL & DRUG COUNSELING is a Diploma program taught at Mountwest Community and Technical College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.

Alcohol & Drug Counseling at Mountwest Community and Technical College prepares students for careers in alcohol and drug counseling. The Associate of Applied Science (AAS) is designed to prepare students for credentialing in the Alcohol and Drug Counseling profession, using the four professional domains: Screen, Assessment, and Engagement; Counseling; Treatment Planning, Collaboration, and Referral; and Professional Responsibilities and Ethics.

Classes use either an online or live remote delivery option, with synchronous learning activities for counseling skills through practice and peer feedback. To complete the degree, students complete three semesters of field experience. The program is linked to credentialing through the West Virginia Certification for Addiction and Prevention Professionals (WVCBAPP), with experience that counts toward the WV ADC credential, and awareness of expectations and the credential timeline.
