Diploma in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS)

Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) is a Diploma program taught at Mt. San Jacinto Community College District, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program at Mt. San Jacinto College is a competitive, non-transfer Associate of Science degree that prepares students for a career in healthcare sonography. Students complete coursework for Abdominal—Extended and Obstetrics and Gynecology concentrations, focusing on anatomy and pathology, patient care, and communication.

Training spans four semesters plus one summer term and includes a 12-month clinical internship. Students practice ultrasound scanning skills with ultrasound equipment in campus labs, then apply those skills and receive on-the-job training in an affiliated medical center with a licensed sonographer. Students are evaluated across didactic learning, hands-on scanning skills, and communication, patient care, and critical thinking.

Graduates are equipped to perform ultrasound exams, including abdominal, obstetric, gynecological, and vascular studies. The program prepares students to sit for national ARDMS exams such as Sonography Physics and Instrumentation (SPI), Abdominal (ABD), and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN).

The minimum requirements for admission in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) at Mt. San Jacinto Community College District for all applicants (Domestic or International) are:
