Introduction

Geology is a Diploma program taught at Mt. San Jacinto Community College District, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.

Geology studies the Earth’s surface and interior. Students examine rocks and minerals that make up the Earth’s crust, rock layers inside the Earth (structure), and the planet’s history through topics such as continental drift and plate tectonics, dinosaurs, global warming, and cooling.

The course also connects geology to daily life and to society. It covers how to recognize natural disasters and how to be safe from them, and it explores humans’ place in time and on the planet, linking geology to how people understand their environment and their place in society and culture.
