Doctor of Education in Organizational Innovation and Leadership

The National University Doctor of Education (Ed. D.) in Organizational Innovation and Leadership focuses on preparing change agents, problem-solvers, and leaders of educational enterprises and other organizations. Students study organizational theory branches related to structure, development, leadership, behavior, and processes, along with organizational development and planned change as they apply to implementing innovation within educational institutions.

The program includes 10 courses and is structured around 12-week courses with monthly cohort starts. Learners examine innovation and its diffusion, research designs with an emphasis on intervention evaluation research, and case study analysis of innovation in different industries, culminating in an innovation case analysis in educational enterprises. A finalized problem-of-practice culminating project is defended at the end of these courses, and teleconferencing sessions connect candidates within the cohort throughout the 12-week experience.

Admission requires a completed online application, an earned master’s degree conferred with a B or better, and official transcripts. After review by the Doctoral Faculty Admissions Committee, selected applicants are invited to an interview and asked to complete a writing sample as part of the interview process. The program is designed for candidates with work experience in innovation and strong communication skills who are prepared for doctoral studies.
