Introduction

Early Childhood Education is a Diploma program taught at Pellissippi State Community College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.

Pellissippi State Community College offers an Early Childhood Education (A.A.S.) that prepares students to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities, build and maintain family and community relationships, and use assessment strategies to support young children and their families. Students also develop effective teaching methods and grow as professionals through hands-on experiences in the classroom and community.

The program includes required field work in all Early Childhood Education courses. Field work time varies by course, and students must meet the program Field Work Handbook requirements, including successfully passing a background check. The curriculum includes practicum experiences, including 45-hour practicum experience with an additional 6+ hours of field experience, and 90-hour practicum experience with additional 20 hours of field experience.

Graduates pursue roles such as Head Start lead and assistant teachers, community-based childcare providers, assistant teachers in public schools, and early childhood education business owners. The program also supports career interests such as parent educators, early care and education trainers, early education technical support, and jobs in the larger early childhood community.
