The Art Therapy and Creativity Development, MPS, Low Residency Program at Pratt Institute is a 60-credit graduate program that connects creative, aesthetic, and psychotherapeutic theory through experiential learning. Students complete coursework where artwork is done in every course, used to develop therapeutic skills and apply creative arts therapy theory and practice.
The low-residency format supports students who do not live near or cannot engage in a traditional master’s degree format. Students are admitted for the spring semester only and study through short in-person class periods plus reading and writing work tied to clinical training. Clinical training takes place from September through May, with weekly online contact and an active online forum, and housing is available on campus. The program is not considered full-time, which affects eligibility for F–1 visas.
