Introduction

Fashion Collection + Communication, MFA is a Masters program taught at Pratt Institute, USA. Intake: Fall Only. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (2 years) options.

The Fashion Collection + Communication MFA is a graduate program in the School of Design, Fashion Design. Students develop a craft-based fashion design practice while studying how a fashion collection communicates ideas and shapes cultural narratives. The curriculum combines design, theoretical analysis, and critical examination, including research practices, critical theory, and the study of global fashion systems and their social, cultural, and environmental impacts.

The program runs through a central design studio experience supported by non-studio courses. Students complete 60 credits over 2 years, with a Fall Only start term. Thesis development is supported by a concurrent seminar called The Book, which culminates in a compilation of cohort MFA work. Facilities and resources include Shima Seiki 3-D knitting machines, 3-D printers, laser cutters, and Framis NOSO technology, plus access to the Material Lab, Textile Research Library, and the Textile Dye Garden.
