Master's in Higher Education and Student Affairs
Introduction
Higher Education and Student Affairs is a Masters program taught at Salem State University, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
The Higher Education in Student Affairs (HESA) program at Salem State University is for people seeking to enter or advance in higher education student affairs, a profession focused on supporting college students and promoting learning outside of the classroom. The program uses a 30-credit curriculum designed to fulfill ACPA and NASPA professional competencies with considerable practice-based instruction. It also creates intergenerational learning spaces for current and aspiring higher education professionals.
Students can study full-time or part-time. Courses are taught in Hy-Flex classrooms, with part-time students able to attend in person or synchronously online. Full-time students register for three courses in Fall and Spring semesters, while current higher education professionals may take two synchronous online courses during Fall and Spring semesters plus Summer sessions. Classes meet weekdays in the evening (6:00pm - 8:20 pm).
Many students obtain paid Graduate Assistantship positions with HESA partner offices, including Athletics, Campus Life and Recreation, Career Services, Center for Civic Engagement, Center for International Education, Center for Justice and Liberation, Community Standards and Restorative Practices, First Year Experience, Orientation and Student Life Communication, Registrar’s Office, Residence Life, Student Involvement, and Student Wellness. Students work with the program coordinator to determine the program of study and course modality. Faculty teaching includes full-time faculty and administrators.
