Coursework supports middle level students’ academic growth in math and science, with math topics including numbers and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, data, and probability, and science topics including scientific inquiry, life sciences, earth and space sciences, physical sciences, environment and ecology, plus technology and engineering.

Learning includes active participation, collaboration, and hands-on experiences in various middle school classrooms. Students complete core concentration courses in math and science and professional core courses covering adolescent development and learning, instructional methods, assessment and intervention, adaptation and accommodations for diverse learners, and literacy. The program also includes a required capstone seminar and a practicum in middle level student teaching.
