Introduction

Master of Arts in Teaching Mat is a Masters program taught at Siena College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring, Summer. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1 year full-time, 2 years part-time, 38-credit program) options.

The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at Siena College prepares you for teaching certification and a master’s degree through a year-long internship. You complete a 38-credit program with coursework that covers curriculum and teaching methods, effective teaching for all learners, reading literacy, and the psychology of teaching. You also choose content specialization through electives such as biology, business and marketing, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, English, social studies, technology (K-12), and additional subjects listed.

The program is offered on-campus in early evening and online. It runs as rolling admission with start terms in Fall, Spring, and Summer. You can study full-time for 1 year or part-time for 2 years, with flexible options to complete the degree in one, two, or even three years. The internship places you side-by-side with an experienced educator, with full responsibility for at least two classes.

The MAT leads to New York State teaching certification and supports job placement outcomes described as a 100% job placement rate, with many graduates securing roles in school districts. The program connects graduates with an alumni network, including districts such as Albany CSD, Schenectady CSD, and Shenendehowa CSD.
