Bachelor's in Dance Performance and Choreography

Dance Performance and Choreography is a Bachelor program taught at Spelman College, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.

Dance Performance and Choreography at Spelman College is built around the choreographic process, using black feminist theories, contemporary dance techniques, and interdisciplinary collaborative practice. Students investigate intersections of experimental creative practices, cultural discourse, and technology, while studying dance technique, dance theory, choreographic process, and performance.

The major includes 50 semester credits across four areas: Technique, Theory, Choreographic Process, and Performance. Students take seven technique classes, all courses in the Theory and Choreographic Process areas, four semesters of Dance Performance (the academic frame for Spelman Dance Theatre), and two major electives. The Spelman Dance Theatre provides opportunities to learn from and perform with innovative professional choreographers.

This program is for students who are interested in becoming creators, innovators, writers, historians, and scholars within the evolving field of dance, with departmental faculty who mentor and guide students through scholarship, artistic production, and entrepreneurial strategies.
