Bachelor's in Art History
Introduction
Art History is a Bachelor program taught at State University of New York at Binghamton, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Art History program introduces students to the visual culture of humankind across time. Students study works of art as shaped by form, space, and color, and as cultural artifacts with histories and functions within their societies, connected to other forms of cultural production.
The Art History Department offers two tracks: art history, and architecture and urban studies. The art history track prepares students for scholarly and professional work in the art world, including advanced graduate study, professional museum and gallery work, and careers in arts administration.
The architecture and urban studies track prepares students for graduate work in the history of art and architecture, or entry into professional graduate schools in architecture, design, and urban planning, as well as professional work in historic preservation.
Students can complete a BA in Art History or a BA in Art History: Architecture and Urban Studies, and there is also a minor in Art History. Art history internships range from national to local and focus on arts conservation, curation, and arts management. An art history honors program is also available.
