Bachelor's in Musical Theatre
Introduction
Musical Theatre is a Bachelor program taught at State University of New York at Binghamton, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (4 years) options.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre at Binghamton University is a four-year progression of classes built on acting, singing, and dancing. Students take performance courses covering a wide range of techniques and audition for main stage and studio productions that can include musicals, plays, and dance productions, in styles that range from classical to contemporary.
Students participate in juried performances at the end of each semester, including options such as a studio voice recital, and other sets of audition material. The Theatre Department is an active member of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival network, with faculty-directed productions reviewed and students recognized for work in performance, stage management, and design.
After completing the BFA, most students move to pursue full-time theatrical employment as a freelance artist. Students may perform regionally, on national or international tours, and/or on cruise ships and theme parks, and may later work on higher profile productions on Broadway or with other major NYC theatre companies. Students with a strong stage background also frequently work in television, film, commercials, and voiceovers.
