Bachelor's in Social Philosophy
Introduction
The Social Philosophy program at State University of New York at Cortland focuses on self-expression and reflection, debate and exchange of ideas, and thinking about problems of living, being human, and being part of a community. Students learn how to think critically, solve problems, articulate ideas, and read and write effectively, with preparation for citizenship and responsible engagement in public life.
The program awards a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) with 120 credit hours. The page also describes a 4+1 accelerated track in education: students can earn a B.A. in social philosophy and an M.S.T. in childhood education in five years through SUNY Cortland. Through this track, students are certified to teach grades 1 to 6 and complete a minor content area that may include English, history, mathematics, or the sciences.
