Introduction

History (MA) is a Masters program taught at State University of New York College at Brockport, USA. Intake: Fall, Spring. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time (1–2 years) options.

The History (MA) prepares you to study history through American and World tracks. You choose minor fields with coursework in and outside history, including education, film studies, women’s studies, and education abroad. Students may also complete internships and teaching practicums for hands-on experience.

The program is delivered online or in-person, and it offers maximum flexibility with full-time or part-time study. Graduate seminars run synchronously in real-time online format, and there is at least one asynchronous online course every term. Your capstone is an in-depth research project covering either one semester or a two-semester thesis, with a Public History option for projects oriented toward that field.

Graduates work in education as secondary history teachers and also pursue opportunities in doctoral study, library school, public history, museums, business, public service, and urban planning. Public History MA students may add a 12-credit Nonprofit Management Certificate.
