Master of Architecture
Introduction
Master of Architecture is a Masters program taught at University of California, Berkeley, USA. The program is offered in campus-based modes with full-time options.
UC Berkeley’s Master of Architecture (MArch) is centered on architectural design studio work, supported by courses in building science and technology, sustainability, and history, theory, and society. The program positions architecture as a conceptual and meaningful discipline, focused on synthesizing space, form, and material. Faculty introduce different approaches to architectural design, representation, and research.
Students enroll in an architectural design studio each semester and work with classmates and professors in a light-filled open-plan studio to develop and represent design ideas. By the final year, students apply their cumulative knowledge and architectural voice to a directed thesis project.
The MArch is offered as a full-time residential degree program, accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and designated as a STEM degree by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. It has two tracks leading to the MArch degree, based on previous educational experience and a recommendation from the admissions committee.
